Waynesville, North Carolina

The western North Carolina town of Waynesville stands at the doorstep to some of the state's most beautiful mountain scenery. Waynesville also has an ideal year-round climate, and is well known for its warm Southern hospitality. It's far enough south that spring still comes fairly early, bringing forth a fantastic display of colorful blossoms. On the mountainside, Dogwood and Redbud trees come alive and an amazing number of wildflowers of various shapes and colors put on their show. Cool mountain elevations temper the summer heat and evening temperatures drop to create a most relaxing night. In the fall, Waynesville attracts more visitors than at any other time of the year as hardwood forests put on a spectacular display of color. Winter in Waynesville brings about a quieter, slower season.

It's clear to see why Waynesville is such a popular destination - the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Pisgah National Forest and the Harmon Den Wildlife Refuge - where the Blue Ridge Parkway meets the Great Smoky Mountains, make up almost half the county. In all, Haywood County has a population of about 52,000 and encompasses 546 square miles. Four incorporated towns make up Haywood: Canton, Clyde, Maggie Valley and Waynesville. With cool mountain elevations ranging to over 6000 feet and a mild southern climate, Haywood County is an excellent destination any time of the year for recreation or business.
